Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • Scope:

    The Supervisor is responsible for all operational activities within the department. Those responsibilities are listed below in detail.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Supervises the assigned unit through effective selection, training and evaluation of members and through effective delegation and follow-up of tasks.
    • Schedules and assigns work within the unit to regulate workflow and meet required schedules.
    • Monitors days to confirm requisitions through department.
    • Manager suppliers via report card evaluations.
    • Assist buyers in supplier evaluations for delivery performance.
    • Monitors supplier corrective actions.
    • Assists Sales in negotiating pricing.
    • Assist quote technicians in supplier response.
    • Works with planning and stockroom to schedule material.
    • Negotiate pricing with suppliers.
    • Responsible for controlling the purchase and sales of excess and obsolete materials.
    • Distributes supplier change notifications to appropriate account manager.
    • Works closely with sales and production to meet customer requirements.
    • Provides technical assistance and supervision throughout the unit.
    • Identifies problems in product, equipment, quality, safety and/or employee relations.
    • Conducts monthly toolbox safety meetings, attend supervisors’ safety meetings, and order safety products (i.e. gloves, shoes, aprons etc).
    • Updates departmental procedures, sign off employees, and maintains training.
    • Responsible for meeting department goals, corrective action, and department cleanliness.
    • Ensures timely responses to all levels of management, including peers.
    • Follows and implements all safety and environmental policies. Immediately communicates any safety or environmental concerns to management as well as recommendations for solutions
    • Responsible for environmental, safety and general housekeeping of the department, for the adherence to the quality and continuous improvement policy of the department, for emergency response efforts and evacuation of building personnel, and responsible during an emergency.
    • Ensure all necessary documents, files and employees records and information are protected and kept confidential.
    • Facilitates and attends meetings, communicates regularly with managers and supervisors, suggests and composes procedural changes, attends special training, maintains a clean, safe work environment and communicates to supervisors’ safety hazards and issues.
    • Monitors and approves attendance in KRONOS, including scheduled PTO and ensures adherence to the Attendance Policy.Issues disciplinary warnings when required.

    Essential Knowledge and Skills:

    • Must possess good interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to multitask and lead by example.
    • Good mathematical skills, good computer skills: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook (email)
    • Works up to 10 plus hours a day, 5 days a week, and is flexible to work on weekends. Must be reliable and
      dependable.
    • Has good reading vision, and is able to sit for up to 10 hours per day.
    • Due to ITAR requirements, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident.
    • Regular attendance is an essential job function of this position.
    Education and Experience:
    Bachelors Degree in Business or Management or five years of managerial/leadership and customer service experience preferred.
    Previous experience with electronic components industry highly desired.
