Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Responsible for procurement of the best quality materials and services at the most competitive prices in a global supply-chain environment. Negotiating, professional networking, and ability to represent the company in a positive manor are mandatory. Analyzing numbers and understanding vendor reliability, risk management and potential ethical issues are an integral part of the position.

    The successful candidate will lead the following departmental responsibilities:

    • Be the quintessential example of exceptional leadership, initiative and enthusiasm to your team.
    • Have exceptional knowledge and understanding of electronic components
    • Supervise and delegate duties to subordinates.
    • Work with engineering team to source manufacturable components
    • Forecast price and market trends for key materials.
    • Track, report, and use key metrics to improve vendor effectiveness.
    • Develop and implement strategies to reduce inventory and material costs.
    • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand to optimize material flow.
    • Computer proficiency, ability to learn inventory and accounting programs and manipulate reports in excel.
    • Craft negotiation strategies that result in optimum win-win solutions for both customer and vendor.
    • Perform supplier benchmarking and ranking for vendor improvement or disqualification.
    • Seek and partner with new reliable vendors.
    • Maintain overall responsibility for inventory accuracy and quantity control.
    • Other requests by the organization as required.

    Preferred Experience/Skills

    • Proven 3-5 years working experience in manufacturing.
    • Minimum AS Business, Accounting, or Economics
    • Strong business sense.
    • Solid judgment, leadership and decision making skills.

    Additional Preferred Experience

    • Deep understanding of economics and business.
    • BS Business, Accounting, or Economics.
    • North Central Florida Candidate.

    Physical Requirements:

    This position is classified as medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes as well as possessing the visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current and working on scaffolding and high places.

    Requirements include but are not limited to:

    · Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.

    · Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

    · Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

    · Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.

    · Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

    · Standing for up to 2 hours at a time.

    · Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.

    · Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

    · Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

    · Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.

    · Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

    · Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

    · Feeling. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

    · Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

    · Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
