Summary: The Director of Purchasing is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of Buyers, Planners, and Inventory Analysts. The role involves strategic planning, efficient execution, and continuous improvement of procurement processes to align product supply with dynamic customer demands. Trensor’s Director of Purchasing will cultivate robust relationships with suppliers, drive supply chain performance, and contribute to the overall success of the organization. Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities: Strategic Oversight: Provide strategic direction for the purchasing department, aligning procurement activities with organizational goals. Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize inventory levels, enhance supplier performance, and ensure uninterrupted operations. Team Leadership and Collaboration: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Buyers, Planners, and Inventory Analysts. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Sales, and Supply Chain Specialists to drive expansion into new product categories and fill gaps in existing categories. System Management and Data Analysis: Oversee and manage a material replenishment reporting system, ensuring accurate analysis of data to determine purchasing requisites and identify anomalies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier information in the Syspro database, including contacts, pricing, MOQs, and lead times. Purchase Order Management: Execute purchase requests with both domestic and international suppliers, utilizing the material replenishment process or manual entry as appropriate. Manage purchase order activities, including verification of supplier stock availability, tracking ETAs, expediting when necessary, and following up on overdue orders. Supplier Performance Evaluation: Develop supplier scorecards to assess performance across key supply chain metrics. Conduct thorough evaluations of on-time delivery performance and devise strategies for enhancement. Logistics and Collaboration: Stay informed about logistic and port operations, making informed decisions based on their influence on delivery timelines. Collaborate closely with Product Management and Senior Analysts on new product introductions and product lifecycle management. Inventory Analyst Collaboration: Collaborate with Inventory Analysts to optimize inventory turnover and maintain a robust 95% fill-rate for all customer orders. Facilitate seamless coordination between Buyer/Planner teams to accommodate demand changes and ensure high service levels. Reporting and Analysis: Compile and present comprehensive inventory statistics to senior management, accompanied by recommendations for enhancing purchasing methodologies. Lead the formulation and presentation of the ABC/XYZ analysis matrix on a quarterly basis. Demand Forecasting: Work with Data Analyst team to conduct meticulous demand forecasting by evaluating replenishment methods, store stocking levels, missed opportunities, and outstanding orders. Present refined demand plans on a quarterly basis and assess the corresponding impact on inventory levels. Risk Mitigation: Engage with the Supply Chain Specialist to comprehensively understand expenditure risk profiles and collaborate to mitigate potential adverse impacts on the supply chain. The Director of Purchasing plays a crucial role in ensuring the organization's procurement strategies align with business objectives, fostering effective collaboration across teams, and optimizing supply chain performance. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree, M.B.A. preferred 10 years’ experience supply chain and/or inventory management Excellent communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong understanding of data processes, strategies, and supply chain needs. Strong management background Organization and strong attention to detail Skillful in Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint Physical Requirements/Work Environment Ability to work outside normal business hours, as needed.
