    It is the responsibility of this position to coordinate, direct, and manage the overall Quality Function. The purpose of the Quality Department is to ensure by planning and verifying by inspection, that all GasTech products meet or exceed customer expectations. The Quality Manager will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. 


    • Plan and direct the activities of Quality Assurance and Quality Control. Establish goals, work plans, and budgets such that the lowest cost and highest quality results are achieved.
    • Responsible for ensuring that all materials and workmanship are completed in accordance with industry standards and customer requirements, as applicable.
    • Responsible for maintaining current and future quality certifications including ASME U-Stamp, NBIC R-Stamp, as well as support of the ISO Quality Management System. Be the facility’s primary point of contact with Authorized Inspectors and supervisors as well as Customer/Client Inspectors.
    • Lead the site Quality Control activities, including, but not limited to incoming, in-process, and final inspection, calibration program, and nondestructive testing processes; Plan, organize, implement, and direct the application of assigned resources; appropriately staff and plan human resources for accomplishing the Quality function.
    • Lead continuous improvement activities aimed at decreasing escaping defects, improving product quality and culture, customer inspections, on-time delivery & functional productivity. Lead Quality Stand-downs and facilitate root cause analysis with cross-functional teams.  Assure areas of responsibility are audited for conformance to quality plans, systems, and requirements. Analyze product losses, material review activity, and manufacturing costs and maintain programs to meet objectives; create, implement, track, and review KPIs for department and produced product quality.
    • Review project specifications and/or requirements with production and quality teams as they relate to the quality of fabricated products and work performed to solve fabrication challenges. Develop, distribute, and control relevant inspection plans from job planning through closing.
    • Review ASME pressure vessel calculations and engineering drawings for code compliance; create and/or review manufacturer’s data reports (From U-1 or U-1A, etc.) 
    • Document and segregate nonconforming fabricated material and workmanship. Review issues and work with site management to address remedies for non-conformances and their prevention.
    • Work with management to develop annual training programs for new and experienced employees to minimize product non-conformance; provide quality training leadership for all GasTech personnel. 
    • Ensure Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) are current and in place for projects. Supervise and/or conduct Welder/Welding Operator Qualification Tests to ASME, API, and/or AWS standards, as applicable.
    • Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships as they apply to the quality of products and services for buy-out OEM products, subcontracted fabrication as well as outside services such as surface preparation & coating, PWHT, and nondestructive examination services.
    • Represent the company, as needed, on-field issues requiring investigation and decisions associated with product quality and conformance.
    • Maintain proper, professional, and consistent housekeeping. 
    • Provide regular employee performance reviews, job training, and job development for the Quality Department staff.

    Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline is preferred but an equivalent amount of education and experience is acceptable. 
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a Quality/Inspection function within a pressure vessel/pipe fabrication facility with at least 3 years in a management role is required. 
    • A minimum of 3 years of management experience in a heavy manufacturing environment in a similar leadership role that includes experience leading and managing direct reports. 
    • A thorough technical knowledge of ASME Code fabrication and the oil and gas service manufacturing industry is required. 
    • Proficient knowledge of ASME and ANSI Codes is required. 
    • Knowledge of structural and I&E processes as well as skidded package assembly and testing is strongly preferred but not required. 
    • Proficiency with computer applications, including Quality and MS Office applications, as well as ERP systems or their derivatives, is strongly preferred but not required. 
    • Experience in an ISO 9000 or equivalent environment is strongly preferred but not required.
    • A current AWS CWI Certification is strongly preferred but not required. 
    • Level II NDE certifications to ASNT ACCP or SNT-TC-1A also strongly preferred but not required. 
    • The ability to ensure Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) are adequate and properly qualified for projects is required. 
    • This position must supervise and/or conduct Welder/Welding Operator Qualification Tests to ASME standards and meet the requirements of ASME BPVC, Section IX, and QG-106 requirements for supervision of qualification.
