What you'll do

As the Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting and directing the Food Safety and Quality Management Program. This position will require interaction with auditors and inspectors. As the QA Supervisor you will direct and lead the Quality Technicians. You will assist in ensuring adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS). And this is how you'll do it:

• People Management
  • Directly supervise and train Quality Assurance Technicians
  • Effectively communicate information with team regarding employee relations concerns, time and attendance issues and projects; escalate issues as necessary to Quality Manager or Human Resources
  • Ensure site adherence to safety, sanitation, Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices at all times.

• Quality Assurance
  • Responsible for overseeing the Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs are compliant and followed within the plant
  • Monitor documents generated by Quality Technicians and ensure databases are up to date
  • Support all internal and external inspections/regulatory visits, including audit preparation activities.
  • Serve as resource to Operations by providing product quality and food safety guidance and technical support throughout lifecycle of product.
  • Responsible for raw material and finished product holds and release.
  • Participate/hold noncompliance meetings to drive internal investigation in the identification of root cause and immediate corrective action.
  • Perform follow-ups to non-conformances
  • Advise operations on regulatory and internal requirements during noncompliance process.
  • Coordinate and perform audits and analyses on finished and intermediate products, ingredients, processes and systems as requested.
  • Perform, record, trend, and report audit findings in areas of Pest Prevention, Sanitation, GMP's, Pre-Op Inspection/Testing, Plant Environment, HACCP, SSOP's, Net Weight, and Finished Product Sensory.
  • Assist QA Manager with N/C product sampling, inspections, and dispositions as well as with continuous improvement and quality system development projects.
  • Complete signoffs and quality related functions in RedZone and other QMS/ERP systems
  • Manage inventory of lab supplies, which may require submitting and closing PO's.
  • Represent Quality Assurance in cross-functional groups as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by QA Manager.

• Accountability
  • Works under the general direction of QA Manager but may adjust priorities according to production demand.
  • Projects are assigned by QA Manager but may also be self-initiated.
  • This position will require off-shift and weekend work.
  • Serve as backup for QA technicians for vacations, absences, etc.
  • Provide appropriate training on GMPs and quality systems to Operations and plant staff.
  • Provide summary feedback to QA Manager and Operations on key measurements related to program assignments.
  • Organizing and evaluating the test methodology in data collection to analysis of products, processes, efficiencies, policies, procedures, ingredients, etc.
  • The accurate gathering, compiling, analysis and summary of information by which improvement decisions are based.
  • Provide technical support in the fact-finding process related to non-compliance, HACCP violations, and incoming ingredient incidents.
  • Implementation of solutions resulting from the accurate and timely gathering/assembling of data for continuous improvements of high-quality products/processes.

What you'll bring to KIND

• 4 years college degree in Food Science or the Biological and Chemical Sciences preferred; or more than five years of food production experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Supervisory experienced preferred
• Prior experience required, preferably as a Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance Technologist or Quality Supervisor.
• Must be HACCP and PCQI certified or receive certification within three months in position
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, GMPs, food safety, and statistics required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. (more with assistance)
• Must be able to read and analyze data in hard copy and on a computer screen
• Ability to move about the facility to perform essential functions
