NACE LEVEL II COATINGS INSPECTOR

The Coatings Inspector shall possess knowledge and skills relating to the application of protective coatings to pipelines, fabricated piping, and storage tanks. The inspector should be familiar with and have experience in applying protective coatings, operating test equipment, monitoring the application of the coatings, and enforcing company, industry and manufacturers specifications. The inspector must be familiar with safety standards applicable to coating applications as set forth in OSHA Construction Industry Standards.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Performs assigned routine tests on materials, services in process, or finished projects where results are compared with company quality standards. Reports results to supervisor who will make an analysis and take necessary action.
• Inspects visually for obvious defects.
• Performs detailed visual inspection when necessary to determine quality of product/service where limits are not clearly defined. Identifies defective work and helps put corrective actions in place.
• Records results on inspection forms or charts and reports number of defects found. Posts and maintains forms and charts of inspection data, quality levels, or special quality studies.

• May act as quality control department clerk, maintaining all quality records for facility.

• Verifies that all materials used in the performance of the job assignment are in compliance with Client Company requirements.
• Assures that all specifications and safety standards are adhered to.

• Records and reports material usage and waste.

• Provide field inspection surveillance during various substrate cleaning and coating activities.
• Monitor cleaning and protective coating application and maintenance activities for adherence to design specifications of liquid and non-liquid coatings.
• Organize and analyze gathered data for reporting requirements.
• Include documentation of any system difficulties observed during protective coating applications.
• Submit to client technically accurate daily reports documenting field activities.
• Communicate effectively with key project partners.
• Perform daily inspections utilizing coating inspection equipment and general observations.
• Apply NACE standards as required.
• Other assignments noted by the Company

Required Qualification(s) & Experience:

• High School Diploma, G.E.D.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and able to pass an MVR evaluation.
• Valid TWIC TSA background identification card.
• Able to pass Fit for Duty Testing and Drug/Alcohol policies/procedures.
• Minimum of two years of experience in the application or inspection of coating in the petroleum or chemical industries, or
• One year experience in the application or inspection of coating and either NACE CIP level 1 certification or SSPC PC1 level 1 certification.
• NACE Level II Certification with list of projects completed.
• Minimum 5 years of coating corrosion work experience

Preferred Qualification & Experience:

• High school Diploma or G.E.D.
• Minimum 3-5 years of NACE experience with listed project history and references for background screening.
• Coating Inspector NACE Level 2 Certified or Equivalent.
• Knowledgeable with OSHA's General and Construction safety industries.
