Summary:
The incumbent monitors the process and outcome of Trauma patient care through performance improvement activities centered on evaluation of all aspects of Trauma patient care. Goals are to ensure the quality and timely provision of excellent Trauma care, to improve the knowledge and skills of trauma care providers, and to provide the institutional structure and organization to promote quality improvement. Incumbent facilitates the establishment of policies, procedures, and protocols for the care of the injured, oversees systematic surveillance of this care and modifies the process, and where necessary, to attain and sustain appropriate standards. Critical to these efforts, the incumbent possesses a detailed understanding of the causes, treatment and outcomes of injury and appropriate care of the injury as established by the American College of Surgeons.
