  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (preferred). Strong, detail-oriented team leader with excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills. Possess a valid driver’s license. Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, which includes a background check as well as drug and alcohol screening. Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties.

    MISSION STATEMENT:

    Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourisis dedicated to improving quality of life through exceptional parks, facilities, events, and recreational opportunities for all.


    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Possesses flexible availability during the weekends, which are often the busiest times and requires a workforce that can accommodate the demand.
    • Responsible for managing and supervising the part time grounds maintenance and concessions staff, including training. Ensures each team member understands their responsibilities.
    • Ensures that the baseball fields are well-maintained, safe, and ready for game, including overseeing the part-time maintenance staff, providing the necessary tools and equipment, and creating a maintenance schedule to keep the fields in top condition.
    • Manages the concessions areas, ensuring that it is stocked with the necessary food and beverages, is clean and tidy, and maintaining an appropriate level of inventory.
    • Provides excellent customer service to all visitors to the baseball complex, including greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving any issues or complaints that may arise.
    • Ensures the safety and security of all staff and customers at the baseball complex, including monitoring the premises, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies.
    • Responsible for ensuring that the restrooms are clean, well-maintained, and fully stocked with necessary supplies. This includes overseeing the part-time staff, providing the necessary tools and equipment, and creating a cleaning and maintenance schedule to keep the restrooms in top condition.
    • Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation staff, embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
    • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel, and Community.
    • Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.
    • Work hours vary, which will likely include nights and weekends, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects.
    • Attends all meetings as requested by supervisors.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.


    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    Work exposes the employee to adverse weather conditions and hazards associated with mowing equipment, chemicals, and general maintenance duties.  Protective equipment is required such as gloves, safety glasses, clothing, and boots. 


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


    Work is performed both inside and outside and requires the physical and mental ability to operate a motor vehicle, grounds maintenance equipment, and computer. Work also requires working around heights, heavy lifting, and the ability to climb, stand, bend, and sit while performing various job duties.  Must be able to routinely lift fifty pounds of weight without assistance.
