How you’ll make an impact:

We have an exciting position available for an innovative, inspired problem solver to develop high quality software for Alexa-powered devices. As a member of our Client Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to bring new experiences to millions of Pandora and SiriusXM listeners. What you’ll do:

• Work closely with the tech lead and senior systems architect to ensure that strategic objectives are met with the proposed architectural solutions for business needs.
• Implement core services and applications in various Java technologies following industry standards.
• Participate in technical design and architecture working closely with our team of tech leads and solutions architects.
• Participate in agile ceremonies including scrums, sprint planning sessions and sprint reviews.
• Document all technical design, code, build and release procedures.
• Maintain a robust understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts and design.
• Work directly with development, QA and IT ops on all phases of SDLC.

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, relevant experience.
• 5 years of experience with full Java application development life cycle.
• Strong design and implementation skills pertaining to database design and rich media applications.

Technical Skills:

• Extensive knowledge with application development using core Java, Spring framework, Scala, NodeJS.
• Understanding of consumer electronic devices and their use cases, especially voice platforms.
• Experience developing and integrating with Amazon Alexa Music, Radio and Podcast APIs, Catalog management, voice modeling and interactions.
• Understanding of session management and persistence, multi-threading, concurrency, design patterns and their impacts on application stability and scalability.
• Experience and understanding of the agile development process.
• Good working knowledge of web services, RESTful interfaces, XML, JSON.
• Extensive knowledge integrating with Amazon Web Services.
• Experience with maven, GitHub, and issue tracking tools (JIRA a plus).
• HTTP Live Streaming, CDN, and Edge Computing experience preferred.

Requirements and General Skills:

• Knowledge of industry-standard application architectures, design patterns and technology standards and best practices.
• Experience in designing and developing highly scalable, highly available and maintainable internet applications.
• Good understanding of cloud-based applications and application deployment.
• Ability to learn and stay up to date on new technologies and trends.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $95,100 to $170,450 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
