Casper College is seeking an individual that has a strong knowledge of agricultural operations, specifically hay production and livestock care. The successful candidate will be self-starting, motivated by excellence, and able to successfully operate an agricultural enterprise. The position of Ranch Manager manages agricultural production operations of the Casper College Agricultural and Equine Resource Center (CCAERC).
Housing is provided for the successful candidate (including utilities and internet), and an opportunity for production bonus.
The Ranch Manager’s primary responsibilities include production of hay, complete care of livestock, developing and maintaining positive relationships with community members, and supervising work-study students. The successful candidate will work closely with the Dean of the School of Science and the head Rodeo Coach at Casper College and will report to the Dean of the School of Science.
The CCAERC is located 15 miles West of Casper. The total ranch acreage is 167 with 120 irrigated under center pivot. Casper College and community programs enhance student usage of the facility, and the incumbent candidate is expected to contribute as needed in these programmatic efforts.
Work is performed both outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and indoors in either a barn, office, classroom, or other various structures under varying room temperatures and lighting conditions. Travel will be required. Work may cause exposure to atmospheric conditions such as dirt, dust, adverse weather conditions and noise levels expected in a normal agricultural environment. Employee works frequently around a variety of livestock and other various ranch/farm animals. Employee will work frequently with students, faculty, staff, community members and student work-study employees.
Employee must be able to stand for long periods of time, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computers, feel, and reach with their hands and arms. Work requires walking and standing for extended periods of time and frequent lifting/moving of up to 100 pounds and moving more with various assistance methods. Work includes use of hands to manipulate both livestock and use tools, equipment and vehicles. Extensive vehicle and equipment use will be required (agricultural equipment, vehicles, vans, etc.) Work will be performed when needed and at times of crucial attendance, such as harvesting season, when students are present, and any other time of crucial attendance, as deemed by the Dean of the School of Science or head Rodeo Coach.
