SUMMARY
This position reports to the Materials Manager. a fast paced environment requiring excellent communication skills, teamwork and the ability to prioritize tasks. The Shipping / Receiving Supervisor will ensure all incoming and outgoing materials are properly timed, handled and documented; respond to current and future customer requirements and interface with other key personnel and to maintain Multimatic’s manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Traffic Function
- Schedule all pickup and delivery to/from customers on an ongoing basis (ZTS in SAP)
- Schedule pickup and delivery for customers & vendors
- Responsible for Returnable Containers
- Responsible for updating customer routings
- Perform SAP functions as related to shipping & receiving
- Maintain customer CLIPS website for customer returnable packaging
- Maintain, edit and create forms to assist in tracking & data collection for the department
- Responsible for retrieving and transmitting customer documentation (releases) via electronic data interchange systems such as Gentran
- To ensure all received material are accurately labelled and tagged - bar coding inventory system
- Update & maintain routing binders
- Ensure adherence to FIFO and orderly flow of materials to all assembly areas
- Manage the pick-up and delivery of goods by contracted trucking companies
- Planning and maintaining the arrangement of the receiving and placement of finished goods, returnable containers, outside processing materials, etc. within the plant and warehouse.
- Responsible for service parts inventory control, housekeeping and organisation, and control of storage trailers
- Act as the primary contact for all customers for issues pertaining to short shipments and forecasts
- Responsible for Advanced Shipping Notices (A.S.N.s). and for Bar Code Labels/ Information
- Responsible for maintaining truck tracking log, including all expedites (inbound and outbound)
- Maintaining supplier profiles and returnable packaging to ensure no delivery disruption
Shipping / Receiving Supervisor Function
- Provide direct supervision for all shipping and receiving personnel in the plant
- Trains receivers/shippers on work instructions, problem solving, and processing procedures
- Responsible for forklift certifications (new and renewals)
- Supervisor must be capable of performing the duties of their direct reports in their absence and/or in the event of increased workflow or special projects.
- Responsible for all Customer performance evaluations including retrieving, logging and submitting disputes when necessary
- In the event of receiving customer concern (verbal or electronic) issues customer/concern report and includes Production Manager and Quality Manager in distribution. Follow the escalation process in response to potential production disruptions.
- Actively participate in team meetings and monthly employees meeting
- Participate in all physical inventory activities
- Will maintain due diligence in regard to environmental matters, minimize any potentially harmful accidents and work in compliance with ISO 14000. Will follow the environmental guidelines for aspects as outlined in the job training requirements.
- Will work in compliance with all legislative requirements of the OHSA and will be accountable for specific Health & Safety responsibilities, as outlined under “Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
- Responsible for the setup of all finished good part numbers in SAP
- Perform any other assignments designated by the Materials Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
All Shipper/Receivers and other employees as requested.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a two years of experience as a scheduler, material control or shipping supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
