Northwood Children's Services is looking to hire a Recreation Coordinator. This is a full-time position that will include hours at Merritt Creek Academy and at the PRTF!
IDT Recreation Coordinator:
We are looking to fill the position of recreation coordinator who will work at both Merritt Creek Academy and at the PRTF. The schedule will include weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as one weekend shift.
Brief description: The Recreation Coordinator in the Intensive Day Treatment programs assumes the dual role of coordinating recreational opportunities for all day treatment programs and also working with residential treatment teams providing support and supervision as well as facilitating skill building groups and/or one-on-one recreational opportunities as deemed necessary by the student’s treatment plan.
The primary duties include planning, organizing, communicating and coordinating functions that fulfill team and organizational objectives. The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for direct student contact and supervision, securing and utilizing available agency and community recreational resources through being a liaison with community recreational providers, providing adventure based counseling and treatment interventions, maintenance of recreational equipment, high and low ropes course, athletic fields, and grounds, keeping an inventory of recreational equipment and managing a budget for recreation activities and equipment.
Recreational Coordinators are responsible for enforcement of Northwood program policies and procedures. In order to provide effective leadership, ongoing professional self-development is necessary.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of mental health services to children with emotional disturbances; or holds a Master’s or other graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields.
Pay commensurate with experience.
