POSITION TITLE: Marketing Coordinator
DIVISION: Marketing & Communications
REPORTS TO: Marketing & Communications Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-time, starting at $19.00
Purpose of Position
The Marketing Coordinator contributes to overall brand, content, creative, social and marketing strategies. Qualified individual will be a driven communicator, a planner, digitally savvy and creatively-minded.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Manages Department social media channels. Schedules content, monitors platforms, and owns day-to-day engagement. Assists in content strategy and creation.
- Manages Department website. Updates and maintains website ensuring up-to-date content. Implements best practices for meta descriptions, readability, focus keywords, etc.
- Tracks, evaluates and analyzes metrics and provides recommendations for future strategy and campaigns.
- Assists the marketing team with the development, execution, and optimization of paid social media and Google ads.
- Creates plans and oversees budgets for search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click ads (PPC).
- Assists with advertising traffic.
- Proficient with video and photo editing tools, digital media formats, and HTML.
- Researches and initiates problem resolutions; provides input to Marketing & Communications Manager and Marketing & Communications Director regarding requests for new or enhanced services.
- Assists with market research, such as focus groups or surveys, to measure customer satisfaction, identify demand for existing and new services, and develop effective marketing strategies.
- Provides copywriting support and content recommendations that reinforce Department-wide branding efforts.
- Positively promotes the image of Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation.
- Cultivates and advances a positive environment for both customers and employees.
- Engages with targeted audiences within the community through interviews, focus groups, meetings, social media, etc.
- Responds to member, guest, and community questions, suggestions, and complaints related to Department.
- Coordinates the production and distribution of marketing collateral in partnership with marketing team.
- Monitors and maintains content across different platforms.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively on an individual and group basis and in public meetings; includes ability to speak and write clearly.
- Ability to organize and direct work of self and others, and to apply principles of persuasion and influence over others in a professional capacity.
- Knowledge of social media best practices including ability to create branded posts (reels, video, graphics, etc.) utilizing trends.
- Knowledge of marketing principles with ability to assess needs, design and implement a successful marketing and communications plan.
- Working knowledge of design and video software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, iMovie, and Canva.
- Ability to compile, review, classify, prioritize, analyze, and present data.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a positive, can-do approach to challenges.
- Ability to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and other software applications as may be necessary to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to exert light physical effort, which may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials weighing 5-10 pounds.
- Ability to work extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
- Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
- Ability to maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) in marketing, journalism, public relations, or other related fields.
- Minimum of 1-3 years relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience working in municipal government or parks and recreation is preferred.
- Must pass a background check that encompasses national, state, and local searches, throughout employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
