    Under the general supervision of a Recreation Facility and Program Supervisor to assist in the development, organization and supervision of recreation and community service activities and programs; including, but not limited to overseeing various sports, arts, youth and adult programs, and special events; may include supervising a recreation facility; and to perform related work as required.This recruitment is to establish an eligibility list to fill one (1) current full-time vacancy within the Recreation and Community Services Department.IDEAL CANDIDATEThe City of Lynwood is looking for an individual who possess great attitude, provides great customer service, shows a record of success and has a passion for recreation and public service. WORK SCHEDULEThis is a benefited, full-time position with working hours to be assigned at the discretion of the Director of Recreation and Community Services and the Recreation Facility and Program Supervisor. Candidates may be required to work irregular hours, various shifts, weekends, holidays and/or on-call status.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
    The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to provide a representative list of the various types of work that may be performed. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job class, and incumbents may expect to perform other related duties. Assists in the development, organization coordination and supervision of City-wide recreation activities and services;Promotes and conducts community participation in City recreational activities and City-wide events;Develops new community relations outreach activities by working with neighborhood groups to determine recreation interests and needs of persons of all ages;Responds to public inquiries about recreation programs;Works effectively with school officials, other governmental agencies, local organizations and various businesses;May create work schedules and supervise part-time staff;Monitors and supervises program participants;Recommends seasonal programs and events;Organizes large and small special events;Publishes, conducts and evaluates recreation programs, special events and activities;Coordinates contract class programs;Prepares and justifies budget requests;Prepares and presents a variety of oral and written reports;Maintains a variety of records and files;Provides formal and informal instruction to program participants;Monitors and enforces the safe use of all recreational facilities;Represents the department at meetings, seminars and conferences;Must work closely with City maintenance staff and other Divisions and Departments;Assist with citywide events and other programs when needed and other duties when assigned;Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Working hours may require irregular hours, various shifts, weekends, holidays and/or on-call status).

    Any combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A typical way to obtain this knowledge and abilities is: Experience: Two (2) years of experience in the implementation of recreation activities or programs.Education: Completion of college level courses in Recreation, Social Services, Physical Education, or closely related field is desirable.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid California Class "C" driver's license issued by the California State Department of Motor Vehicles and a good driving record.PHYSICAL TASKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
