      POSITION VISION:

      Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club (CRYSC) is a community soccer club serving five regions in the state of Colorado, spanning from Fort Collins to Castle Rock, which provides opportunities for all levels of players from beginner to advanced, from three to professional. CRYSC is one of the only true full-service soccer clubs in the nation, providing soccer for all types of players from all different types of backgrounds. This position is the Director of Competitive Programming in the CRYSC Fort Collins region.

      Provide executive-level soccer leadership to the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club (CRYSC), helping to foster growth of staff, coaches, players, and parents.

      MAJOR OBJECTIVES:

      1. Communication - Develop and maintain consistent communication processes based on expectations outlined by the Regional Manager with all Fort Collins 3U-13U Boys and Girls players, coaches, and parents, establishing relationships and trust at all levels of the game;
      2. Apply the Rapids Way - Implement the technical portion of the Fort Collins 3U-13U Boys and Girls Program within the parameters of the CRYSC system;
      3. Teach - Facilitate a positive, learner-centered environment focused on the holistic, long-term development of each individual player;
      4. Games - Represent the Club and Fort Collins 3U-13U Boys and Girls Program with professionalism, positive demeanor, and respect. Model appropriate game-day behaviors by encouraging age-appropriate competition while also fostering a fun and safe learning environment for all children, coaches, parents, and referees;
      5. Coach Education – Implement appropriate education opportunities for staff coaches; identify, hire, retain, and lead additional technical staff, including support staff and team coaches; organize and evaluate age-appropriate coaching clinics; actively pursue personal education in order to maintain the highest standards of education;
      6. Culture/Leader – Serve as the key leader in exemplifying and upholding the standards and culture of the 3U-13U Fort Collins Boys and Girls Program that results in a memorable player experience on and off the field.
      7. Architecture - Architect and design pathways and processes for coach development, mentorship, and growth, ensuring the vision for the Club’s players and coaches is aligned throughout CRYSC.

      JOB FUNCTIONS:

      Communication/Customer Service
      • Implement, maintain and exemplify a standard of superior customer service across all interactions with staff, members and guests;
      • Create and maintain quality rapport with all coaches, players, and parents, developing trust and reliability in yourself and the Rapids brand;
      • Create a communication calendar for all ongoing communication to keep members informed, including but not limited to program overview, coach and player placement and key transition information.
      Applying the Rapids Way
      • Be a positive, patient leader implementing the technical/tactical requirements of this age group;
      • Be a reliable resource and advisor to the player placement process throughout the year, giving other coaches and directors a working knowledge of player attributes at each level;
      • Understand and implement the Rapids Style of Play and create/fun challenging training sessions focused around decision-making on the part of the player and, most importantly, an enjoyment of the game of soccer;
      • Provide age- and developmentally-appropriate curriculum for teams and programs;
      • Support the Director of Competitive Programming on and off the field as needed;
      Lead/Evaluate
      • Practice what you preach. Exhibit the standards of excellence you expect out of your players and families;
      • Communicate clearly, effectively, and often with coaches, players, and parents in a respectful manner;
      • Manage players, parents, and coaches in the program with compassion and understanding while still maintaining high standards of professionalism.
      Culture
      • Ensure a culture of customer service is understood and delivered, providing a standard of customer care expectation at every age and level;
      • Foster a culture of One Club mentality;
      • Act as an ambassador for CRYSC in all functions, putting forth the image of the club in a positive and inspiring way.
      Operations
      • Implement appropriate education opportunities for staff and identify, hire, retain and lead additional technical staff, including support staff and team coaches;
      • Support volunteers with coaching resources, including equipment, coaching clinics, curriculum, in-person game-day support, and other opportunities that help simplify the volunteer coach role;
      • Identify and track upcoming players from the 8U program to coordinate team formation with coaches and player placement into the 9U Recreational and Select programs;
      • Lead and execute summer and winter camps including (but not limited to): staffing, communication, curriculum, and other organizational needs.
      Field Responsibilities
      • Ensure all practice and game fields are prepared and maintained for the season;
      • Foster a positive game-day experience for teams by serving as a point of contact for coaches, parents and referees during league games;
      • Observe and evaluate coaches to ensure the implementation of the Rapids Way for all teams;
      • Observe and evaluate players to ensure each individual is supported in their experience and development.

      • Joy in the Soccer Experience – a positive player experience is naturally different at each level of competition and age. Our goal as a club is for our players to love playing soccer, and our soccer process should be consistent with this goal, which we believe is not mutually exclusive across competitive levels;

      • Retention and Satisfaction – a successful soccer process should result in improved retention across the club on an annual and longitudinal basis;
      • Consistency - our soccer process should result in a consistent player experience across the entire club versus an environment where the player experience varies widely based on who the coach is of the player’s team;
      • Member Enjoyment – several factors are part of developing a club loved by its membership, consisting of players, staff, coaches, families, and partners. A successful soccer process should result in an experience that engages players, staff, coaches, families, and partners as proud stakeholders of Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club.

      EXPERIENCE / DESIRABLE TRAITS:

      • Communication/Organization - excellent adherence to the 24-hour communication policy; organizing recreational league/camps well in advance of registration timelines; maintaining recreational league/camps success throughout each season;
      • Participation - Increase in recreational league/camp participation, as aligned with overall region intentions
      • Retention/transition - Increase in recreational league retention/transition, as aligned with overall region intentions;
      • NPS - Increase in recreational league NPS, as aligned with overall region intentions;
      • Willingness to collaborate with all staff members and coaches both on and off the field;

      • Strong experience in the use of IT-related software packages such as G-Suites and Microsoft;
      • Willingness to adapt to the approach of the club and be consistent in the application;
      • Further desire to pursue coach education and informal learning opportunities;
      • Attend and contribute to staff meetings on a weekly basis both in person and virtual;
      • An individual who is punctual and organized;

      COMPENSATION:

      Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 Benefits

      The salary and benefits are dependent on the type of work agreement decided between the chosen candidate and Club based on the candidate’s qualifications and responsibilities. Full-time employee benefits include PTO, employer-sponsored medical, dental, and vision plans, 403b retirement plan with employer match, cell phone reimbursement, life insurance, and supplemental benefits. The Club will pay a portion of the medical benefit premiums.
