Job Description:
The Project Manager provides overall direction and leadership to fully implement and manage processes and procedures for commercial construction projects. The Project Manager develops and supervises projects from preconstruction through project setup, construction and final completion.
Duties:
PRECONSTRUCTION
- Research and develop project leads and market opportunities
- Review project plans and specifications and assist with estimating
- Attend pre-bid meetings
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Develop comprehensive familiarity with each project including understanding and retaining the intent of the plans and specifications
- Utilize effective planning skills in the pre-construction process and project scheduling
- Develop and maintain the overall project schedule
- Coordinate and direct subcontractors and suppliers
- Review, evaluate and manage shop drawings
- Collaborate with project stakeholders including architects, engineers and owners
- Plan, schedule and lead project progress meetings
- Manage the execution of project scopes and trades to ensure quality control and compliance with contract terms and applicable codes and regulations
- Ensure that project sites are clean, organized and orderly at all times
- Ensure the timely acquisition of required permits and coordination with applicable inspectors
- Actively support and enforce our safety culture on each project. Work with our Safety Director to identify and mitigate project safety hazards
- Assist in the development of the project punch list and ensure successful punch list compliance and project close out and acceptance by owner
ADMINISTRATION
- Provide weekly project status reports to company management
- Monitor material purchasing
- Participate in the development of change orders
- Assist in the preparation of pay requests to architects/engineers/owners
Education and Skill Set Requirements:
EDUCATION
- Construction Management degree or Civil Engineering degree or relevant or useful degree, or related industry experience
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
ANALYTICAL SKILLS
- Ability to identify problems, establish facts, collect data and draw valid conclusions
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with industry peers and associates
- Ability to be tactful direct and diplomatic in relationships with others to attain goals
- Ability to effectively provide information via written communication to company personnel, architects, engineers and owners

NATURE OF JOB
- Project Management is a fast-paced job with a significant volume of tasks to be completed in a limited amount of time. The ability to multi-task is essential and focus is frequently shifted from one job task to another. Distractions and interruptions are common.
- A valid and unrestricted driver's license is a requirement
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Project Managers are exposed to field conditions that include hot and cold temperatures, wet and muddy terrain and moving equipment
- Frequent activity includes standing, walking, climbing, bending and sitting
- Occasional activity may include lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching above the shoulder, pushing and pulling
- Daily Vehicle travel may be required
- Non-traditional working hours may be required to meet project schedules
