Regulatory Affairs Director oversees regulatory matters and executes the strategy to ensure the organization complies with applicable regulations. Develops processes and systems to ensure that all necessary licensing, filings, certifications, and permits are processed and monitored. Being a Regulatory Affairs Director establishes monitoring policies and procedures to ensure compliance with existing regulations. Anticipates new or changing regulations and coordinates with internal stakeholders to develop strategies to address changes in product, operations, or testing requirements. Additionally, Regulatory Affairs Director investigates and addresses any reported issues of non-compliance. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Regulatory Affairs Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Regulatory Affairs Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • Summary
    The Director of Government Affairs will report to the Vice President of Government Affairs. In this highly visible position, the successful candidate will leverage a background in politics, political consulting, public administration, and business to take a critical role in developing, nurturing, and maintaining outstanding relationships with all relevant community stakeholders including: City staff, elected officials, and other influential members of the community. This role will work collaboratively with the Division Vice President and Vice President of Government Affairs to develop policies and objectives that align with local, state and federal mandates.
    Job Description
    Essential Job Functions:
    • Possess a strong understanding of state and federal laws that govern industry practices.
    • Provide input and support with the development of corporate strategies, policies and plans that align with government laws, regulations and standards.
    • Monitors legislative and regulatory activities to promote the company’s market position. Responsible for gathering, interpreting, and informing management on potential business risks and opportunities in designated markets.
    • Possess the ability to take complex legislation and regulations and develop messaging to inform external stakeholders.
    • Makes formal presentations to boards, committees, legislators, or other bodies, on governmental or public affairs, as requested.
    • Works collaboratively with the Division Vice President to develop formal correspondence and messaging relating to company services directed to external audiences.
    • Responsible for understanding franchise agreements for designated territories. Provide stewardship for compliance with assigned contracts.
    • Collaborate with all company functions to ensure successful execution of contractual obligations. Provide regular updates to internal teams on any contract changes or practices that impact business operations.
    • Work collaboratively with the Government Affairs team to share information to further advance the growth and expansion of the organization. This includes closely monitoring City political dynamics.
    • Interface with yard management and personnel regarding issues associated with customer accounts.
    • Analyze lost unfavorable business events and pursue corrective actions as directed.
    • Actively engage in community organizations including chamber of commerce, service clubs and other charitable organizations to promote Athens.
    • Attend City, business and community events as an Athens representative.
    • Provide oversight on all community events that Athens participates in.
    • Participate in regular department meetings.
    • Provide weekly and or monthly reports on all activities as directed.
    • Participate in annual department planning and budgeting.
    • Attend Industry and Public Agency Association meetings as directed.
    • Timely completion of all other assignments as directed by the Vice President of Government Affairs.
    Required Qualifications:
    • At least four years in politics as an elected official, or staff member.
    • At least five years in business in a “front End” roll such as Sales, Marketing, or Public Relations.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field.
    • Experience with negotiating contracts.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel/Access/PowerPoint).
    • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
    • Bilingual required Mandarin/Chinese

    • A Master’s Degree in a related field.

    Salary $92,000 - $156,493
