Regulatory Relations Liaison jobs in Washington, DC

Regulatory Relations Liaison is responsible for filing necessary applications and handling all government interactions pertaining to the regulation and certification process for a plant or other facility. Develops procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Being a Regulatory Relations Liaison prepares reports for top management detailing projects that may impact the organization's regulation status. May represent the organization before federal or state legislations. Additionally, Regulatory Relations Liaison requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Regulatory Relations Liaison typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Regulatory Relations Liaison typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     All who are selected to participate in CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program receive training in the field of foreign policy and international affairs as well as skills training in writing, research, program planning, and much more.

     

    The Global Communications and Media Relations department focuses on maximizing the presence of CFR in print, broadcast, and online media outlets and on promoting CFR’s roster of products, which includes on-the-record events, CFR books, Council Special Reports, Task Force reports, working papers, online publications and interactive features, and Foreign Affairs articles. The department also works to ensure that CFR experts are visible in the news media.

     

    CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.

     

    CFR’s summer internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis. 

    The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

    • Identify top international news stories and developments
    • Track weekly mentions of CFR publications and experts to include in the department's weekly media highlight
    • Respond to press inquiries in the departmental email inbox
    • Conduct research on media outlets to create targeted press outreach lists
    • Assisting with drafting social media posts across all platforms
    • Noting key social media statistics
    • Assisting the digital marketing team, as needed
    • Provide additional communications and media relations support, as needed

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate or graduate student with a concentration in international relations, political science, journalism, PR/marketing, or public affairs
    • All applicants should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework (not including AP classes in high school) by the time they begin an internship
    • Previous internship experience in at media organizations, think thanks, non-profit organizations, NGOs, or PR firms preferred
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, as well as social media channels and research databases
    • Ability to multitask and work well collectively in a fast-paced environment
    • A demonstrated interest in media relations and public affairs, or foreign policy/international affairs and global issues preferred

    Pay Rate

    $17.00 per hour
