Reinsurance Clerk performs routine reinsurance clerical duties, such as maintaining records, processing, and verifying new business. Performs basic accounting activities such as calculations and preparation of billing statements and financial reports. Being a Reinsurance Clerk verifies the policies of reinsurance clients and reviews company records to determine correct coverage. May coordinate the exchange of underwriting information between the reinsurance market and the underwriting staff. Additionally, Reinsurance Clerk may process monthly premium billing statements and other reports. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Reinsurance Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. The Facultative Casualty Department of Everest Reinsurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is looking for an Underwriting Assistant to join our Chicago, IL office. Responsibilities include but not limited to: New business submissions and renewal submissions triage and set-up Rating of new and renewal submissions within proprietary rating system Review and analyze incoming submission details and related information for completeness accuracy and quality. Gather and analyze underwriting information including experience reports and CAB reports. Data entry related to reinsurance contracts and associated processes Utilizing industry websites to obtain additional information for accounts Regularly review and adhere to department processing guidelines and procedures to ensure accuracy including recommended changes/enhancements. File management and review including regularly following up with clients for outstanding information, utilizing an internal paperless system Manage underwriting relationships with timely responses relative to service inquiries. Create official documents including binders, certificates, and endorsements Internal interface with claims, billing and audits as needed Ability to manage internal report updates based on manager discretion. Participates in peer review and quality control for team(s) as needed. Special projects as needed. Qualifications, Education & Experience: Minimum 3 years commercial insurance or reinsurance experience preferred Proficient in MS Office, intermediate knowledge a minimum in Microsoft Excel Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: Thorough attention to detail and organizational skills Strong desk management, written and verbal communication skills. Comfort level with developing rapport with business partners, underwriters, clients and co-workers by phone, email or in person. Ability to prioritize competing demands and requests to complete work within required time constraints with a high volume of work. Demonstrate strong analytical skills and mathematical aptitude. Proficiency in using online reference manuals and multiple electronic systems. The ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple deadlines with ease.
