General Description
The Director of Faith Formation administrates (designs, develops, directs and evaluates) a total parish catechetical program and provides leadership to assist a parish community in building a solid foundation for youth and adult spirituality, Catholic living, ministry and outreach. In addition the director will coordinate and oversee all sacramental programs.
Reports to: Pastor Employment: FT, Hrly $22-$25, 35hrs/wk Classification: Non-Exempt
Administration

Review curriculum and make changes to keep current

Maintain records for registration, attendance
-
Manages records and paperwork for all Sacramental programs
-
Filing and distribution of all pertinent material
-
Prepare, implement and monitor budget
-
Prepare and monitor yearly calendar
-
Set goals and philosophy
-
Supervise RE teachers and assistants
-
Maintain Safe Environment program
-
Ensure volunteers are Safe Environment trained if applicable.
Classroom support
-
Recruit/schedule/coordinate teachers/assistants
-
Train teachers and assistants
-
Nurture and support teachers/assistants (recognition, regular contact, supplies and resources)

Maintain a resource library of books/DVDs for teacher use.
- Handle problems or discipline issues that may occur in classes

Be available to work various hours when classes are held
Publicize and communicate

Prepare/publish/distribute schedule

Communicate and coordinate with office staff and Priest

Promote RE (bulletin, announcements, emails, parent letters, flocknote, bulletin board)

Filing and distributing letters, reports
-
Organize fundraising efforts for various activities

Promote community building

Oversee adult education efforts

Parent meetings/workshops
-
Recruit and engage new families
-
Provide engaging activities for families
-
Plan summer activities (VBS, youth group, etc)

Coordinate special events related to religious events (Stations of the Cross, Living Rosary, etc)

Diocese activities
-
Keep abreast of new resources, curricula, educational philosophy, etc

Attend diocese meetings/workshops/training

Network with other DRE’s
Qualifications:
-
Demonstrate capability to carry out administrative and supervisor duties in a timely fashion, utilizing good communication and relationship skills

Participate in ongoing formation and educational opportunities to keep current on trends in catechetical ministry
-
College degree, preferably in education
-
Proven participation and continuing updating of the Safe Environment Program sponsored through the archdiocese
