Religious Activities and Education Director jobs in Glen Burnie, MD

The Pastorate of St. Gabriel in Windsor Mill, Maryland and St. Charles Borromeo in Pikesville, Maryland is seeking qualified candidates for a Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE). This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. This ministry is charged with forming and engaging children, high school youth, and young adults in the Catholic faith for lifelong spiritual growth. The overall objective of the position is to organize, direct, and manage a comprehensive faith formation program in collaboration with the pastor, staff, catechists, and volunteers.

The CRE plans and implements the parish program of catechetical instruction and faith formation for children and youth, pre-K through 8th grade.

Essential Functions

• Develop additional opportunities for family-based formation
• Prepare ministries to educate and engage with high school youth and young adults
• Reach out to pastorate families with children to connect with them and engage them in pastorate life and lifelong faith formation
• Manage the Children's Liturgy of the Word on Sundays
• Coordinate the monthly children's Masses
• Plan and prepare the annual week-long Vacation Bible School
• Ensure the Safe Environment requirements (Virtus Certification), policies, and mandates for Parish Religious Education volunteers are in compliance with Archdiocesan standards
• Prepare and schedule sacramental programs and services for candidates and parents for Baptism, First Reconciliation and First Eucharist

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Religious Education, Theology, Catechetics, or related field is preferred
• Ministry experience in lieu of education will be considered
• Previous experience working in faith formation or a similar ministry is preferred 
• Must be a practicing Catholic who can model Christian values and active participation in pastorate life
• Must be able to participate fully in the Sacramental life of the church
• In a multi-cultural pastorate with a large Hispanic membership, proficiency in both English and Spanish is strongly preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 programs 
• Must have excellent organizational and communication skills
• Must be able to maintain a positive, professional, and empathic attitude with children, youth, parents, volunteers, and staff, all while maintaining proper boundaries as clearly articulated by the Archdiocese of Baltimore Code of Conduct
