St. Bridget Church has an opening for a full-time Director of Religious Education, who administrates (designs, develops, directs and evaluates) a total parish catechetical program for students from Kindergarten through Confirmation, directs and guides sacramental preparation for adults, including adult Confirmation and RCIA, and will provide leadership to assist a parish community in building a solid foundation for adult and youth spirituality, Christian living, ministry and outreach.
The essential functions of the position will include, but not limited to: designing catechetical programs which support lifelong learning and conform to the National Catechetical Directory (NCD), Archdiocesan guidelines and parish needs; developing a coordinated approach toward total parish religious education, i.e., faith development through catechesis on all levels; directs the implementation and on-going management of the total parish religious education program; evaluates the religious education programs at all levels (parish staff, catechetical staff, participants), and collates evaluation information and gives feedback to appropriate groups and adjusts religious education programs in relation to parish feedback and current professional literature.
A Degree in Education, Theology, or a related field, and proficiency in Theology, Program Development, Catechist Development, Education, Communication and Relationships, and Administration/ Management, are preferred. Experience is preferred.
Additionally, this position will require a Catholic in good standing and an individual who is faith-filled and willing to be involved in the parish and be committed to the Church and its catechetical mission.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others and have a comfort level with technology and social media, in addition to excellent public speaking, teaching and facilitation skills are important aspects of the position.
