Renal Dialysis Director directs the staff and programs of the renal dialysis department. Organizes and coordinates inpatient and outpatient dialysis services and operations. Being a Renal Dialysis Director develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for dialysis operations and programs. Monitors quality of care, compliance, and data collection and leads quality improvement initiatives. Additionally, Renal Dialysis Director oversees the professional development of staff and educational support programs for patients. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Renal Dialysis Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Dialysis Care Technician (DCT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated patient care services related to treating patients in need of renal replacement therapy (all types of dialysis). Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the DCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the DCT’s skills/training and the needs of the department and consistently assists the dialysis care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The DCT is responsible for machine management and documentation of machine quality and safety logs, machine tracking, and inventory as assigned by departmental leadership. The DCT complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board rules and regulations for unlicensed personnel. The DCT performs dialysis treatment under the supervision of a nurse per state guidelines and facility policies.
