Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate reporter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in journalism or willingness to learn and a keen interest in storytelling through various media formats, including digital, print, video, photo collage and audio for podcast. As a reporter, you will be responsible for covering scheduled municipal meetings for vilage, town and county legislative bodies; researching, writing, and producing engaging content that informs and captivates our audience. Your role will involve collaborating with editors and other team members to ensure high-quality reporting across multiple platforms.

Duties

• Conduct thorough research on assigned topics to gather accurate information and insights.
• Write clear, compelling articles that adhere to journalistic standards and style guidelines.
• Produce and edit video content, utilizing skills in videography and video production.
• Capture high-quality photographs to accompany written pieces, enhancing storytelling.
• Manage social media accounts to promote articles and engage with the audience effectively.
• Collaborate with editors for copy editing and ensure all content is polished before publication.
• Communicate effectively with sources, stakeholders, and team members to gather information and verify facts.
• Stay updated on current events and trends relevant to your reporting beat.

Requirements

• Proven experience in journalism or a related field, and a willingness to learn, is preferred.
• Strong writing skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Proficiency in video production, editing, photography, and copy editing.
• Research skills with attention to detail and a willingness to seek information from various sources.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration within a team environment.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
• A degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is a plus but not required. A wilingness to learn and curiosity with follow-through are keys to this position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
