The Gadsden Times, , part of the USA Today Network is seeking a part-time general assignment reporter to join o ur team and h elp provide comprehensive and insightful news coverage to the vibrant community of Gadsden, Alabama.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to deliver timely and compelling news stories across various platforms.

Responsibilities :

• News Gathering : Conduct thorough research, interviews, and on-the-ground reporting to gather information on a diverse range of topics, events, and issues.
• Writing : Produce clear, engaging, and accurate news articles that inform and engage our audience. Articles may cover local news, community events, human interest stories, and more.
• Multimedia Integration : Collaborate with our multimedia team to incorporate photos, videos, and interactive elements into your stories, enhancing the overall storytelling experience.
• Community Engagement : Build relationships within the community, attend events, and stay attuned to local concerns to ensure comprehensive and relevant coverage.
• Adaptability : Be flexible in covering breaking news, events, and assignments as they arise, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Qualifications :

• Strong writing and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Previous experience in journalism, reporting, or related fields is advantageous .
• Knowledge of Gadsden and the ability to understand and report on local issues.
• Proficiency in digital media tools, social media platforms, and basic photo / video editing skills.
• Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends.
