Summary
The Sr. Payroll Manager is responsible for the Americas payroll, which includes US and Canada payroll for approximately 1,500 employees in the construction environment. This will include direct management of payroll processing and tax preparation for 4 FEINs and about 45 states, 2 separate Business Numbers, and 5 provinces in Canada.
Requirements
- Ensures timeliness and accuracy of all data processed and submitted for payment in a construction environment for all aspects of the payroll process cycle.
- Stays up to date on all payroll laws and tax regulations as well as continuous improvement of process and detection and remediation of any process defects.
- Oversees timely and accurate filing, payment, and reconciliation of all federal, state, local, and unemployment payroll taxes and processing of any journal entries required to balance accounts.
- Ensures training and documentation are in place for all payroll processes and is responsible for ensuring designated backups are identified and trained.
- Manages the payroll timekeeping systems, which includes patch testing, troubleshooting, and implementing new functionality.
- Identifies and leads process efficiencies to reduce risk and increase team productivity.
- Oversees 401K program maintenance and compliance.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
- Participates in special projects as assigned by Director, VP, and Controller. This includes acting as project lead on all payroll-related projects. Examples of upcoming projects may include working as payroll lead for new tools and systems.
- Participates in and supports testing of all internal and external audit activities.
- Manages Expat global mobility.
- Works in conjunction with accounting and reporting.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a relevant field or 8 years of relevant experience is required.
- Certified Payroll Professional or Fundamental Payroll Certification is preferred.
- 8 years of progressive payroll-specific experience is required.
- Foreign payroll and tax experience is preferred.
- 3 years of experience with payroll systems (Paylocity a plus) is preferred.
- Knowledge and/or firsthand experience of IRA compliance and processing prevailing wage payrolls.
- Experience implementing a new payroll system is required.
- In depth UKG knowledge /experience is required.
- Robust payroll processing and timekeeping knowledge.
- Strong understanding of multi-state payroll tax reporting.
- General understanding of basic accounting concepts and ability to reconcile payroll accounts.
- Strong Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Functional competencies include accountability, attention to detail, system thinking, prioritization, and communication.
Anticipated base salary range: $124,000 - $150,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
