Res. Hall Manager (No Room, Board) oversees all activities of a residence hall. Responsible for student housing assignment, maintenance of facilities, and safety of residents. Being a Res. Hall Manager (No Room, Board) ensures students follow college/university conduct policies and takes appropriate disciplinary actions when rules are broken. Incumbent is not given room and board at the residence hall as part of the employment arrangement. Additionally, Res. Hall Manager (No Room, Board) oversees maintenance and renovation, purchase and inventory of supplies, assignment of semester rooms and summer housing, housekeeping functions, and management of student conduct and discipline. Room and board in the residence hall is not included in the terms of employment. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Res. Hall Manager (No Room, Board) supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. To be a Res. Through its unique program, parents and caregivers partner with program staff to develop strategies to support their child's development, select the material items that their child needs, and connect with community resources that can expand their support network. Room to Grow program staff work alongside parents and caregivers as they build upon their existing skill sets and parenting styles and promote the well-being of their children and family.

    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Chief External Engagement Officer, the Manager of Communications will help create and implement communications strategies to advance the organization’s work and key priorities. Working in collaboration with the Communications team and stakeholders across the organization and externally, the manager will do this through compelling storytelling executed across our website, social media, email marketing, and printed content. The role requires a strategic and creative mind, the flexibility to work cross-functionally with teams, and the ability to build and deliver effective content strategies to expand brand awareness and broaden and cultivate audience engagement. 


    Position Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Develop and implement strategic and effective communication strategies for key initiatives 
    • Plan, produce, and manage all content for Room to Grow and owned channels including, website, digital marketing, social media, and printed assets
    • Identify storytelling opportunities and creative approaches to promote Room to Grow’s work and impact across platforms
    • Create innovative collateral to describe and support the organization’s work in a way that is compelling and relevant to priority audiences 
    • Help manage the website, including creating and publishing written content, images, and videos, executing design updates, and optimizing SEO 
    • Oversee Room to Grow’s social media channels: 
      • Create, coordinate, and manage social media content (copy creation, visual/video assets, scheduling) across social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, X) 
      • Monitor the health and growth of social media platforms (examine the performance of posts for specific campaigns or activations to assess successes and learnings)
      • Manage community engagements across platforms (respond to DM’s, forward relevant inquiries to appropriate departments, etc.)
    • Create content and develop creative execution for Room to Grow emails (Constant Contact) 
    • Develop brand-appropriate collateral and content for external partnerships
    • Monitor and integrate relevant industry news and trends into content
    • Develop and sustain productive cross-functional relationships within the organization
    • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather relevant content to use across channels

     

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A passion for the mission, vision, and core values of Room to Grow
    • Minimum 5 years experience in communications, marketing, journalism, brand management, public relations, or related fields 
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to create effective content 
    • Strong attention to detail and proven copy editing skills 
    • Strong understanding of digital marketing and trends; paid social strategies; and campaign management
    • Proven creative and graphic design skills to create impactful digital and physical assets 
    • Ability to adjust course as needed and thrive in a nimble, fast-paced, and flexible organizational culture
    • Action-oriented, proactive, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to work
    • Ability to be onsite at Boston or New York Family Centers at least three (3) days a week 
    • Ability to travel within the US (5-10%)
    • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement
