Res. Hall Manager (No Room, Board) oversees all activities of a residence hall. Responsible for student housing assignment, maintenance of facilities, and safety of residents. Being a Res. Hall Manager (No Room, Board) ensures students follow college/university conduct policies and takes appropriate disciplinary actions when rules are broken. Incumbent is not given room and board at the residence hall as part of the employment arrangement. Additionally, Res. Hall Manager (No Room, Board) oversees maintenance and renovation, purchase and inventory of supplies, assignment of semester rooms and summer housing, housekeeping functions, and management of student conduct and discipline. Room and board in the residence hall is not included in the terms of employment. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Res. Hall Manager (No Room, Board) supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. To be a Res.     MPS, a division of Macmillan Publishers, a leading US publisher of Trade and Academic titles, has a job opening for a Manager, Major Account Reconciliations at our Gordonsville facility. MPS provides back office support, warehousing, and, fulfillment for Macmillan US, and is their primary distribution facility for North America.

    Purpose of the Role:
    The Reconciliations Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Reconciliations department. The primary responsibility is to complete timely and accurate reconciliations of all financial transactions while ensuring the attainment of department objectives and compliance with both credit and company policies and procedures.

    Key responsibilities/tasks:

    • Provides guidance and direction to the Major Account Representatives to support them in reconciling their accounts.
    • Takes charge of complex or unstable situations that exceed the Major Account Representative's capacity to handle.
    • Conducts reviews of reconciliations with Major Account Representatives to ensure their accuracy.
    • Provides suggestions and feedback to the Director regarding the appropriate approach for managing a particular situation or account.
    • Facilitates employee growth and retention through the recommendation of training and professional development programs, and by providing guidance and motivation to enhance employee effectiveness.
    • Participates in the reconciliation meeting with customers to resolve any discrepancies.
    • Forecasts monthly cash flow projections for each account, as well as for the major's group as a whole.
    • Ensures that all required records and reports, including those related to absenteeism and performance evaluations, are completed accurately and promptly.

    Skills/experience required:
    Candidate should have a Bachelor's degree, along with three to five years of relevant experience and/or training. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will also be considered.

    Essential Skills:

    • A strong accounting background and proficiency in mathematical processes.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong management and organizational skills to motivate and manage people effectively.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
    • Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees and customers.

    Key relationships:
    This role requires having relationships with various departments in the organization including Customer Service, Order Entry, Traffic, and IT.

    Physical requirements/job attributes:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, or reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, walk, and stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
