The Development Director is responsible for the planning, coordination, and day to day execution and marketing activities to meet or exceed HHS’s financial and public relations goals. The position involves researching, developing, and implementing programs that will benefit the organization while supporting its goals, mission, and philosophy. Develops and maintains relationships with donors to include foundations, corporations, community organizations, and individuals. The ability to lead colleagues in their expanded efforts at fundraising is essential. Directs the work of the Develop Department staff. Works very closely with the CEO, and is expected to exemplify the Society’s values at all times. Must possess the skills necessary for moving the development efforts of HHS forward.
Carries out all policies, as directed, in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and laws. Plays an active role in the development and securing of funding for operations, spay and neuter support, and capital campaigns.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, or marketing and a minimum of 2 years of proven successful experience in fundraising and development. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational skills. Superior interpersonal skills and an ability to build positive relationships are essential. Must be able to work with a wide diversity of individuals. Comprehensive understanding of Donor Development, Planned Giving, Sponsorship, and Capital Campaigns. Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & Publisher), social media, web-based research tools, and Windows environment.
