Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our executive team. This key position will be responsible for spearheading our fundraising efforts, including researching grant opportunities, drafting and submitting persuasive and timely grant applications, nurturing relationships with collaborating community partners and stakeholders, donor relationship management and the cultivation of new donors, and designing and implementing a funding strategy that supports our mission and ensures the long-term sustainability of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, research, and pursue relevant grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other grant-making organizations.
- Write compelling grant applications and proposals, ensuring compliance with grantor guidelines and deadlines.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for donor cultivation, engagement, and retention.
- Collaborate with the executive team to align fundraising strategies with the organization’s programs, goals and mission.
- Monitor and report on the progress of fundraising activities and grant applications.
- Establish and maintain relationships with donors and grant-making organizations, including the preparation and submission of timely outcomes reports to funders.
- Manage a development team, setting goals and tracking performance.
- Organize and participate in fundraising events and campaigns.
- Stay informed about fundraising trends and the regulatory environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising and development, with a proven track record in grant writing and donor cultivation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the local philanthropic landscape is a plus.
