Research and Development Engineer conducts research and development activities for an organization. Applies research theories, principles, and models when conducting experiments and research activities. Being a Research and Development Engineer summarizes research results and communicates findings to internal and external bodies. Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures projects are on time and within budget. Additionally, Research and Development Engineer develops technical documentation for all projects. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Research and Development Engineer work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. This is an on-site opportunity located in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Seeking a candidate with knowledge in:
- Numerical Modeling Expertise: Demonstrated foundation in numerical modeling with a focus on any kind of fluid dynamics.
- Software Proficiency: familiarity with various modeling and simulation software, such as OpenFOAM, StarCCM , ANSYS, or others. Basic knowledge of programming languages (e.g., C , FORTRAN, MATLAB, Python) and Linux-based systems is preferred.
Necessary skills:
- CFD Software Proficiency: Experience with leading CFD tools like OpenFOAM, StarCCM , ANSYS Fluent, or similar software. Ability to set up, run, and analyze simulations.
- Numerical Modeling: Understanding of numerical techniques for solving fluid dynamics problems, including discretization methods, mesh generation, and solution algorithms.
- Programming and Scripting: Proficiency in programming languages for custom simulations, automation, and data analysis.
- HPC/Terminal Skills: Demonstration of using High Performance Computing systems or experience using a terminal is good (Bash, Csh, Linux, etc.)

- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues in simulations, troubleshoot problems, and develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
