Research and Development Supervisor supervises activities in the research and development department. Oversees personnel who utilize established mathematical and scientific techniques to compile and analyze data and write technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations. Being a Research and Development Supervisor ensures proper procedure, and helps devise new development techniques. A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Additionally, Research and Development Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), Social Science, or Public Health. Two years of experience developing or writing proposals to/for federal, state, or local agencies. May substitute a terminal degree for required experience on a one-for-one basis.
Job Description:
To provide grant proposal development expertise to faculty members and research personnel to enable competitive individual and team extramural research funding and facilitate research excellence in collaboration with the Office of Strategic Research Development. May support faculty in a single department, or across multiple departments and/or center(s) in all phases of the research proposal process.
Specific Job Related Duties:
Supports faculty in multiple departments and/or center(s) in all phases of the research proposal process, including but not limited to ideation, planning and editing. Collaborates with other research entities and private businesses to coordinate, develop, fund, and implement research projects.
Salary Range: $70,000 to $95,000; actual salary commensurate with experience.
