Research and Development Supervisor supervises activities in the research and development department. Oversees personnel who utilize established mathematical and scientific techniques to compile and analyze data and write technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations. Being a Research and Development Supervisor ensures proper procedure, and helps devise new development techniques. A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Additionally, Research and Development Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members.     JOB SUMMARY:

    This position supports and coordinates activities and communications for students, early-career researchers, and early-stage investigators in conjunction with the work of the AACR Science Education and Career Advancement Committee.

    Responsibilities

    • Works closely with the Director and members of the AACR Science Education and Career Advancement Committee to support services and develop initiatives essential to the mission.
    • Assists with developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating various programs in support of students, early-career researchers, and early-stage investigators.
    • Supports AACR professional development initiatives for members in various stages of their careers.
    • Schedules meetings and conference calls, drafts agendas in consultation with leadership, produces meeting materials, creates PowerPoint presentations, and drafts meeting reports and minutes.
    • Provides excellent oral & written communications and produces correspondence and reports.
    • Prepares marketing strategy, develops content (print and electronic) in support of programs and activities, and prepares scripts and/or talking points for participation of leadership at in-person events.
    • Maintains accurate files and archival records.
    • Performs other essential tasks and duties required of the position

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 3-5 years of related experience, preferably in a non-profit or high-volume environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to communicate with individuals in an enthusiastic, passionate, and persuasive manner to promote AACR membership and programs
    • High level of accuracy and attention to details in the performance of tasks and functions
    • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate in an enthusiastic and passionate manner
    • Ability to create content for website, email, social media, reports, and other necessary communications and documents
    • Ability to meet frequent deadlines, manage and follow-through on multiple tasks, and work well under pressure.
    • Willing and able to possibly travel once or more per year in support of Membership activities.
    • Proficient in MS Office with a strong knowledge of Excel or other database programs
