Research Fellow develops the strategy and vision to position a project from inception through completion; creates teams and collaborations that understand the project's direction. Communicates direction through words or actions to inspire team members to reach goals. Being a Research Fellow also responsible for planning and budgeting. Requires a PhD in their field of specialty. Additionally, Research Fellow typically reports to a top management. The Research Fellow manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Research Fellow typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • With principal investigator oversight, prepares, evaluates and implements research studies to enhance the advancement of clinical practice; effectively manages all aspects of research studies.

    Essential Functions

    • Plans and executes experiments under direct supervision.

    • Calculates, analyzes and interprets data collected for presentation to mentor (Investigator). Discusses with mentor alterations of experimental procedures and carries out approved changes.

    • In conjunction with mentor, prepares manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and abstracts and posters for presentation at scientific meetings.

    • Reviews current literature to keep abreast of changing scientific theories, techniques and their effects on the current experiments. Discuss new issues in the literature with mentor.

    • Maintains accurate and legible notebook for recording of all aspects of experimental protocols and equipment requirements.

    • Participates in and/or leads regular research quality management activities to ensure research studies are in compliance with federal, state, and local law, GCP, contracts, and institutional policies.

    • May participate in ongoing clinical care as part of a formal SH GME training program.

    • May participate in all functions of research (bench, clinical and/or translational).
