About the Position
The Bilingual Academic Specialist supports students in specified programs.This professional technical position serves as a liaison for students who have been historicallymarginalized to ensure their academic success. They collaborate with staff in schools to support and advocate for students. Additionally, this position leads language immersion activities and supports a variety of events throughout the school district. Required Qualifications
- Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university in education, human services or other related fields. *
- Work experience with tutoring/mentoring students.
- Bilingual/multilingual ability required.
- All certificates, transcripts, or degrees completed outside of the U.S.A or Canada must be evaluated by a member from the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services
(NACES). The final evaluation report must confirm education equivalent to a minimum two years of college-level credit or a degree (AA, BA, MA) from an accredited college in the United States.
Licenses/Special Requirements:
- Possession of valid First Aid and CPR Certifications (or ability to acquire within 3 months upon hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred languages of Dari, Pashto, and/or Farsi.
- Previous experience working with students in an educational setting and/or evidence of an interest in supporting learning experiences.
- Training with cultural, ethnic and language diversity.
2023-24 Professional-Technical Salary Schedule Level 6: $34.78 per hour
- Contract Status: Non-Continuing (This position is non-continuing for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year only. Typically, non-continuing assignments fill a variety of temporary vacancies to help the school district meet a short-term work demand. This work assignment expires on the end date of employment and there is no reasonable assurance for work after the end date. An employee's total work hours and the designated beginning and ending times may vary. )
- Work Days Per Year: 185 Day Calendar
- Shift details: 7 Hours per Day; in-person
- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Eligibility for SEBB state health insurance coverage is determined by working 630 hours during the school year (Health, Dental, Vision, Long-term Disability, Life and AD D Insurance and options for HSA, FSA and DCAP). Eligibility for retirement at the time of hire is determined by employees who work at least 3.50 hours per day in a continuing position.
