Resident Care Coordinator coordinates, supervises, and evaluates the care of residents in a skilled nursing, assisted living, or similar facility. Schedules and trains care staff, and ensures that clinical services are delivered in accordance with regulations and professional standards. Being a Resident Care Coordinator communicates with families and medical professionals as needed, and ensures care plans for residents are properly documented and updated. Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Resident Care Coordinator may require Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Resident Care Coordinator supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Resident Care Coordinator typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Required Experience:
A. Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two or Four year college or university degree required.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse is required.
B. Direct Previous Experience
- Administrative and management experience required.
- Two years experience in a similar healthcare position required.
- Five years of healthcare experience desired.
- Remain in good standing with all standards of the Nurse Practice Act.
C. Skills:
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) plus the
- Ability to work with minimal or close supervision.
- Must conduct all business with a professional manner and with a high level of
- Working knowledge of prescription drugs, therapy practices and bio-psycho-
social sciences.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record as specified by the Company and by the Company’s automobile insurance carrier.
D. Abilities:
- Work indoors for the majority of the work day (fluorescent lights, HVAC
- Climb up to two flights of stairs occasionally.
- Lift objects of 25 pounds or less over the head.
- Move objects of 40 pounds or less.
- Ability to work in time-sensitive or stressful situations.
- Exposed to physical/verbal abuse by certain residents under mental or physical impairment.
- Exposure to needles, infections, wounds, medical equipment, and the like.
- Sit in a chair / stand for extended periods.
- Respond to medical emergencies in all areas of the campus.
