Residential Living Assistant provides individualized care to the patients of a group home or residential living facility. Assists the patients on daily basis with personal care and hygiene. Being a Residential Living Assistant transports patients within the facility or on supervised outings. Administers and records medications given to residents. Additionally, Residential Living Assistant may administer medications under the supervision of a nurse or physician. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Residential Living Assistant possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. To assist consumers in performing the functions of daily living with as much independence as possible. Under general supervision, to guide consumers to be self-directed by teaching consumer’s decision making skills and encouraging independence as defined in each person's Personal Support/Habilitation Plan. To provide assistance in a manner that supports the personal dignity of the consumers.
Providing support services for individuals with development and physical disabilities within their own home setting.
Assist consumers in performing daily living functions such as personal hygiene, dining skills, household chores and community integration, etc.
Assist with meal preparation, teach dining skills and promote social skills and personal dignity during meals.
Ensures safe and clean living conditions at all times.
Administers medications at the appropriate time
