DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

  • ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Donor Management

    Prepares and coordinates the implementation of an annual development plan

    Supports major gift ($5,000 ) fundraising.

    Maintains and coordinates a cultivation/stewardship schedule for donors and prospects.

    Holds regularly scheduled rating and screening meetings with development leadership team to develop cultivation steps for donors, strategies to convert prospects to donors; and monitor timely movement through the cultivation/solicitation process. 

    Conducts research and prepares up to date donors lists and prospects to determine the propensity and capacity to give and continuously updates existing donor and prospect profiles.

    Produces in-depth, well written reports on prospects based on combination of data gathered from a broad array of resources.

    Writes and creates fundraising e-blast campaigns through Constant Contact.

    Researches and prepares case statements and letters of intent and grant proposals as assigned.

    Manages the FreeWill program to engage and build bequest portfolio and cultivates legacy donors. 

    Generates a monthly report of all donor activity and quarterly development dashboards.

     Data Management

    Calls donors upon receipt of $500 gifts to thank for gifts and establish personal contact for future cultivation.

    Prepares all donor acknowledgements on a timely basis (within 72 hours of gift receipt)

    Oversees all gift transactions and manages development and transaction software including Qgiv, DonorPerfect, SafeSave and IWave.

    Collaborates with the Accounting department and coordinates monthly reconciliation between donor software and accounting.

    Utilizes and is responsible for all development, peer-to-peer and prospect research software.

    Ensures all donors, including legacy donors, are added to appropriate Constant Contact mailing lists.

    Ensures all major donors are added the Keystone Society master list on website.

    Ensures all legacy gifts are added to the Legacy Society master list on website.

     Special Events

     Plans and coordinates fundraising and community events working in concert with the Develoopment & Marketing team. Develops special event checklist and timeline, works with the Markeing & & Develop staff for planning and implementation.

     Communications

    Assists with planning and implementation of development print and digital campaigns.

    Prepares development content for websites, online platforms, newsletters and eblasts as requested.

    Writes and edits development and communications materials as requested.

    Coordinates comprehensive and integrated digital fundraising strategies on multiple communication channels to engage CR’s constituents and lead to donations and prospect lead generation.

    Coordinates the production and content all development mailings, produces constituent lists and database segmentation.

    Administration and Fiscal

    Assists in the development of relevant development policies and procedures.

    Develops and implements timelines ensuring proper tracking and implementation.

     JOB SPECIFICATIONS

     Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications or a related field required.  Direct experience can offset educational requirement.

     Training and Experience:

    3 years of directly related development experience.

    Knowledge and expertise in the cultivation and solicitation process

    Experience in fundraising prospect research/management, database analytics and fundraising operations is required.

    Knowledge of principles of development.

    Effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, with focus on writing.

    Proficiency in writing and editing,

    Outstanding self-motivation skills

    Proficiency in CRM databases, donor software, peer-to-peer platforms, and development research tools such as DonorSearch or WealthEngine

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Highly organized and detail oriented. Proven ability to meet multiple deadlines and balance numerous projects simultaneously.

    Excellent verbal communication skills.

    Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality including the ability to receive feedback and take action when appropriate.

    Ability to handle confidential financial and personal information with discretion and sensitivity.

     Licenses and/or certifications:

    N/A

     Job Knowledge and Skills:

    Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred. Proficient knowledge of fundraising, CRM, donor and website software, social media is required.  

    Strong communication skills include writing and editing.

    Excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines in a timely manner are required.

    Good decision making, problem solving, and teamwork skills are necessary.

    This work requires the following physical activities: constant hearing/ visual acuity. Frequent sitting, talking in person, and talking on the phone. Occasional walking, driving, standing, and stretching/reaching. Work is performed in office, community, and social settings.
