The Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) is seeking a Program Coordinator in the Private Business and Vocational Schools (PBVS) Unit, which reports to the Director of PBVS. A private business and vocational (PBVS) school is any entity offering programs and/or courses in Illinois which prepares individuals for a trade, occupation, vocation, profession; or improves, enhances or adds to skills and abilities related to occupational/career opportunities.
Entities are required to submit an application to IBHE relative to the PBVS Act of 2012 when seeking to operate in Illinois, offer programs/courses of study in Illinois, add an extension site, change ownership of the institution, relocate the main campus, make changes to a program or the institution, or to be declared exempt from IBHE oversight. The Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance related to institution and academic program approval of private entities seeking to offer career and technical education in Illinois.

Essential Function 1
Analyze and recommend approval or disapproval of requests for new operating and program authority from private entities seeking to offer career and technical education in Illinois.; annual review of approved private business and vocational schools and programs, review of other application types; investigate and develop cases for revocation of institutional authorizations when regulatory non-compliance is discovered.

Assist with keeping abreast of relevant federal and state laws, legislation, rules, regulations, and developments in the field of institution and program authorization and approval.

Support the Director in the development and implementation of policies and initiatives that advance departmental and agency goals and priorities relative to postsecondary education

Investigate and resolve student complaints

Assist with the collection and analysis of data for reporting purposes

Participate in commissions, tasks forces, and various advisory committees to advance higher education initiatives related to agency goals and state priorities

Minimum Qualifications 1
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university

A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience*
