Resource Center Specialist

  • Job Summary:

    Under the direct supervision of the Community Services Director, the Resource Center Specialist, works in partnership with individuals, family members and/or caregivers by assessing information received and providing necessary assistance for continued independent living for seniors and adults with disabilities. Works closely with clients to resolve issues and seek solutions by exploring community resource options, including financial assistance, housing, transportation, and in-home supports. Thereby strengthening one’s ability to live independently in their home longer.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist individuals, caregivers, and family members in the surrounding community to determine assistance necessary for independent living, safe and secure housing, as well as financial and informational assistance to enable seniors to make the best choice from the local services available. This involves consulting on Medicare / Medicaid, assisting with paperwork / application completion, and other needs identified through consultation.
    • Obtain and maintain state certified SHIP and I&A Counselor credentials.
    • Input client information into data systems and conduct internet information and resource searches.
    • Investigate elderly and disabled issues and concerns and contact appropriate agencies to resolve problems.
    • Attend required staff meetings and in-service trainings.
    • Provide insight into the continued development and publication of bi-monthly Prime Connections program specific articles, as requested.
    • Collaborate with other community agencies fostering positive rapport and effective working relationships, provide program information and give presentations as required.
    • Participate in community outreach activities.
    • Must work well under pressure and meet multiple, and sometimes competing, deadlines. At all times, the specialist will demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
    • Confidentiality is essential.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor to volunteers.

    Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education):

    • Bachelor’s Degree in social / human services or equivalent AND
    • Two years related work experience with senior citizens
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience with community engagement and public speaking
    • Prefer knowledge of senior and disability social service programs
    • Interest in, and desire, to work with the elderly and disabled
    • Ability to work with coworkers, clients and outside agencies in a professional and positive manner
    • Must have valid Montana Driver’s license, car and insurance
    • Must pass background check

    Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

    • Sitting and walking
    • Frequent use of fingers, hands and arms
    • Bending and stooping
    • Lift up to 25 lbs. using safety equipment/belts
    • Minimal exposure to cold and heat
    • Ability to listen, hear, and speak clearly
    • Respectfully interact with others
    • Close, peripheral and distance vision
    • Exposure to electrical shock working with office equipment such as computers, fax machines and copiers.
    • Moderate office noise

    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

    Pay: $17.00 - $19.50 per hour

    Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
