Respiratory Therapist - Home Care works in a home care environment and assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Being a Respiratory Therapist - Home Care treats patients with pressure breathing, mechanical ventilation, positive pressure breathing, humidity/medicated aerosol therapy, medical gas administration, pulmonary drainage procedures, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is an impairment. Additionally, Respiratory Therapist - Home Care operates oxygen and other therapeutic gas and mist equipment. Requires a credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Requires an associate's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Qualifications:
Possesses a master's or doctoral degree in speech-language pathology (SLP), and who meets either of the following requirements:
Is licensed as a speech language pathologist by the State in which the individual furnishes such service; or
If the State does not license speech-language pathologists:
Must successfully completed 350 clock hours of supervised clinical practicum (or is in the process of accumulating such supervised clinical experience);
Performed not less than 9 months of supervised full-time SLP services after obtaining a master's or doctoral degree in SLP or a related field; and
Successfully completed an approved national examination in SLP
A minimum of one year's clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology.
Current BLS/CPR certification
