    Position Summary:

    The Revenue Accountant will oversee monthly, quarterly and annual revenue recognition analysis of various revenue streams across the National Basketball Association (NBA) including sponsorship, content and advertising. Additionally, this role will be involved in managing all non-cash revenue and activity associated with equity investments held by the NBA’s various entities. The role will report to the Director of Revenue Accounting and will be responsible for the underlying data and support as well as billing details used for global reporting of all revenue streams across the NBA.


    Major Responsibilities
    :

    • Manage billing detail files across all NBA revenue streams used to facilitate contractual invoices with the Accounts Receivable department and reconcile billings to revenue recorded on a monthly basis.
    • Prepare support files needed for monthly journal entries used for monthly revenue recognition including: Content-related license fees, advertising media plans and non-cash equity revenue.
    • Use internal sales systems to create and manage revenue recognition files used for monthly accounting entries
    • Manage accounting approvals within sales systems for new and amended content-related contracts
    • Liaise with FP&A and business teams on a regular basis to ensure continuity between contract terms and revenue recognition, including interpretation of U.S. GAAP revenue recognition guidance (ASC 606). Prepare accounting summaries on information included in contracts and agreements
    • Perform monthly roll forwards and reconciliations for deferred revenue accounts for all NBA and affiliate league revenue streams
    • Manage monthly reconciliation of activity associated with all equity investments including analysis of vesting, non-cash revenue recognition, option exercises, etc.
    • Convert trial balance information into management reports used for reporting
    • Participate in monthly, quarterly and yearly accounting cycles including providing support for the year-end financial statement audit
    • Assist with other duties as assigned by the revenue team and global controllership group.


    Required Education/Professional Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
    • 3-5 years' experience in an Accounting or Finance role
    • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP revenue recognition guidance (ASC 606) and/or equity guidance (ASC 321) a plus.
    • CPA license (or current progress to obtain license) preferred


    Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:

    • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and procedures
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including use of pivot tables, v-lookups, macros, as if functions, etc. Strong time management and prioritization skills
    • Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information
    • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to manage one's own individual projects
    • Serve as a flexible and reliable member of the team, both within own department and the company as a whole Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
    • Present oneself in a professional manner and have the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and outside contacts
    • Express rigor, attention to detail, and organization on a consistent basis


    Salary Range:
    $95,000 - $105,000
