Description
Primary Summary:
Prepares income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements and reports. Reconciles cash and g/l accounts, loans sold in the secondary market, fixed-asset system, and investments in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and guidelines approved by management.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions/Position
· Handles monthly reconcilement and audit preparation of general ledger cash accounts.
· Performs necessary functions for reconcilement with the Federal Reserve Bank, the Federal Home Loan Bank and other accounts as needed.
· Maintains the fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules on the FAS software for general journal entries; ensures proper recording of new purchases. Prepares roll forwards.
· Provides month and quarter end reports for financial reporting as assigned.
· Reconciles daily and monthly reports and remits funds and reports to investors of sold loans within a specified time frame.
· Files 990 tax return. Reviews any IRS correspondence relating to 990 returns.
· Documents policies, procedures and workflows for assigned areas of responsibility.
· Maintains investment system including preparation of monthly reconciliations and entries and roll forwards. Maintains complete documentation for each investment. Maintains vendor due diligence for investment brokers.
· Prepares NCUA 5300 call report and maintains the credit union profile.
· Prepares ALLL calculation and quarterly qualitative analysis.
· Oversee the monthly g/l reconciliation process to insure reconciliation are completed timely and submitted for review.
· Assists with preparing the annual budget and completing monthly budget analysis.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Requirements
Position Requirements:
Experience
Five to ten years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions. Working knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or Business.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with co-workers and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.
Other Skills
Working knowledge of accounting software.
