The University of Alaska is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Financial Accounting Director. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of the leading higher educational institution in the State of Alaska.
You will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of the annual audited financial statements for the University of Alaska and the Education Trust of Alaska. Acting as a liaison with external auditors, you will ensure the audit of financial statements, federal single audit are completed within specific deadlines and resolve any audit findings. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that Government Accounting Standard Board pronouncements are properly implemented and for the preparing the unrelated business income tax return. This position serves as the system expert on financial accounting issues and oversees the specialized accounting functions, such as endowment, debt, investments, capital assets, reconciliation of balance accounts and the drawing of operating and capital appropriation from the State of Alaska.
Successful candidates will possess strong knowledge and experience in accounting, financial reporting, government accounting standard and the federal single audit, coupled with good communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor degree in accounting, finance or business administration is required and a Certificate of Public Accountants is preferred.
Position Details:
This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 83, based on education and experience.
