Revenue Accounting Manager supervises the staff and daily operations of an oil and gas revenue accounting department. Oversees processes for booking revenue, performing reconciliations, analysis, and calculating and distributing royalty checks. Being a Revenue Accounting Manager submits and prepares reports and filings that comply with applicable regulations and practices. Implements specialized oil and gas software to optimize accounting operations. Additionally, Revenue Accounting Manager possesses experience and knowledge of accounting practices that are specific to the oil and gas industry. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Revenue Accounting Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Revenue Accounting Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Position Summary
    The Accounting Manager leads in developing department goals and staff, and managing department resources. The manager continually seeks out new process improvements and ensures that controls are being adhered to. Consistent positive communication is key in maintaining strong working relationships with our Merchandising teams, Operations, IS, Corporate Accounting and Costco suppliers.
     
    Job Duties/Essential Functions

    • MEMBER SERVICE: Provides and ensures staff provides an exceptional member experience.
    • ADMINISTRATION: Ensures proper department coverage (writing schedule and break aids if needed). Understands department budget, and is able to research and explain budget variances.
    • MANAGING PERFORMANCE: Coaches and mentors employees to provide support and guidance. Has regular open and honest conversations with employees to discuss work performance and career development. Identifies learning opportunities to strengthen employee knowledge, skill, and ability.
    • COMMUNICATION: Regularly shares information with employees via meetings and one-on-one conversations. Successfully navigates difficult conversations with employees, members, and suppliers. Listens, expresses empathy, and adapts to get point across. Addresses issues immediately to ensure a timely resolution and to avoid escalating the situation. Consistently demonstrates business knowledge during interactions with senior management.
    • SELF-MANAGEMENT: Demonstrates sound judgement, taking a partner when necessary. Ability to maintain self-control in the face of hostility or provocation, or in intense, hectic situations. 
    • INCLUSION: Encourages different approaches and ideas to work and to accomplish goals. Seeks employee input. Takes the time to get to know or reach out to candidates who show potential that may not come forward on their own.
    • COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY: Takes measures to ensure employee and member information is kept confidential and adheres to IS security policy.
    • This is a full-time management/leadership position (45 hours per week).
    • Provides professional development of supervisory team and their staff.
    • Ensures all appropriate operational and accounting controls are operating as designed.
    • Analyzes current procedures; recommends and implements enhancements.
    • Sets goals including quality and productivity standards along with monitoring for compliance.
    • Ensures reconciliations are timely and accurate.
    • Builds and maintains strong relationships with accounting staff, warehouses, and suppliers.
    • Provides leadership and actively participates as a member of the Accounting management team.
    • Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.  

    Experience, skills, education & licenses/certifications
    Required:
    • Costco management experience required.
    • Letter of recommendation from current manager or director.
    • HIPAA Training and Supervisors Orientation (within 30 days of hire); Leadership Development 101 (within one year); Costco Pay Policies (within 90 days of promotion).
    • Proficient working knowledge of Costco Accounting systems.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong emphasis on diplomacy and training ability.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deal with constant change in a positive manner.
    • Excellent organizational and follow up skills required.
    • Must be extremely responsive, with a strong sense of urgency.
    • Must be willing to rotate as needed within the organization.

    Recommended: 
    • Proficiency in Excel, Google, ReconNet, SAP, BI preferred with an aptitude for learning new systems.
    • Proven leadership skills, including leading large projects and/or goal development and implementation.
    • Willingness to share knowledge, teach and assist others as needed.
    • Proven ability to manage priorities and timelines.
    • College degree or equivalent experience.
