Rig Operator operates rig equipment and tools in compliance with safety regulations and functional specifications. Assembles and prepares rig equipment for use and monitors and adjusts equipment as necessary. Being a Rig Operator is responsible for pre-operational checks and post-operational servicing to prevent wear and ensure continuous operation. Maintains detailed records on activities, inspections, and maintenance in compliance with required regulatory standards. Additionally, Rig Operator may require a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Rig Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Position Purpose:
Operate all Heat Treat Operations in the department
Hourly Pay Range: $16.00 - $19.00
Essential Functions:
· Reads work orders to determine material specifications
· Positions work piece against the stops, push button and depresses pedal to activate machine
· Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions
· Identifies soft spots on the cam and report all abnormal conditions to the lead Person or Supervisor
· Stamps parts, verifies stamp is correct and legible and places good pieces in container
· Assembles cams as needed
· Completes work orders correctly and legibly
· Follows written and oral work instruction.
· Works well with supervision and co-workers
· Willingness to run other machines when needed such as but not limited to Hobbs & Rack Roller
· Other duties may be assigned
Education and Training
High School diploma or GED
Minimum Qualifications
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Basic math skills
· Ability to work well with others
Physical Demands
· Ability to stand continuously for 8 – 12 hours
· Ability to work in tight places
· Strength and manual dexterity sufficient to operate tools to make repairs
· Good physical condition to lift up to 20 pounds repetitively
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
· Ability to twist, bend and lift repetitively
· Ability to stand, crouch and climb to perform repairs, use ladders and perform various types of manual labor
· Good eye/hand coordination and good motor skills
· Visual (with correction) sufficient to read blueprints and orders and the ability to record the information either manually or in a computer
· Demonstrated dependability and adherence to all safety rules and regulations
Environmental Conditions
· Exposure to a noisy work environment
· Exposure to hot and humid conditions
· Exposure to coolants, oils, grease and water
· Ear and Eye protection required at all times in all production areas
· Steel toe boots with integrated metatarsal guards required in production area
