    JOB SUMMARY:
    Alaska Crane is a subsidiary of STG Incorporated (herein referred to as “STG” or “Company”) that performs call-out and contract crane services using cranes ranging from 28-ton boom trucks to 660-ton crawlers. The Rigger Driver drives vehicles requiring a commercial driver’s license and assembles rigging and lifts to move equipment and materials on a wide variety of construction jobs and extended term projects.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Assist in determining proper method of lifting equipment and material; specifically:
      • Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to lead weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.
    • Assure lifting gear is inspected prior to use.
    • Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools.
    • Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow opening or confined spaces, using various techniques and tools to maneuver suspended loads.
    • Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, in order to ensure safety of workers and materials.
    • Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
    • Properly load trucks and trailers for assigned job.
    • Secure loads correctly and within load limits to safely transport with miscellaneous trailers.
    • Perform preventative maintenance as required to ensure safe and continual service of equipment.
    • Operate forklift(s) to move equipment to and from work areas.
    • Pilot car driving for oversize loads as needed.
    • Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
    • Work as a “team-player” with co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner.
    • Report any incident, situation or activity that may affect the company’s ability to operate safely, ethically and profitably to company Safety Manager.
    • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:
    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
    • Knowledge of safe and responsible operation of tools and equipment used in rigging.
    • Knowledge of load permits and state and federal truck driving regulations.
    • Knowledge of shop structure, workflow, and procedures.
    • Introductory knowledge of basic vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs.
    • Proficiency in rigging.
    • Professional communication and interpersonal skills with regard to:
      • Written and verbal communications.
      • Working with other personnel to accomplish STG’s objectives.
    • Skill in inspecting equipment and rigging equipment for safety and maintenance purposes.
    • Math skills to include adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measurement, including common fractions, whole numbers, and decimals.
    • Ability to properly use universal crane rigging signals.
    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Ability to drive miscellaneous trailers, up to 6 axels combination, on public roads.
    • Able to follow instructions, respond to direction, and be accountable for own actions.
    • Ability to observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate action beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to work in a team environment, take direction from supervisor(s), high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to work schedule.
    • Ability to prioritize as directed and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work without direct supervision.
    • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
    • Ability to participate in group meetings.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Minimum of three year of previous combined rigger and hauling experience, with at least one of the years of experience driving various trailers.
    • Rigger/Signalperson Certification (or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire) required.
    • Valid Class A driver’s license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of STG’s Driving Policy.
    • Current DOT Medical Card required.
    • Ability to pass a drug, driving record, and background screening.
    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. STG has a fast-paced multi-tasking office environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. The employee must exercise flexibility with regard to last minute requests for project support and varied workloads. At times, there may be a need for occasional weekend and/or evening work in order to meet deadlines.
