Rigger facilitates the movement and positioning of heavy equipment, materials and cargo. Sets up rigging, slings, pulleys, winches, dollies and ropes to safely maneuver loads. Being a Rigger coordinates moving activities with others using hand or other signals. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Rigger may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.     JPW Structural Contracting located in Syracuse, NY is currently seeking a Rigger to join their team! 

     

    Assemble, disassemble and move heavy equipment & bulky objects by selecting and using the various rigging hardware, such as ropes, slings, shackles, clamps, chain falls, and come-a-longs in a correct and safe manner.

    Responsibilities

    Skill Requirements

    • Experience with heavy equipment and material moving
    • In-depth knowledge of rigging equipment
    • Excellent spatial awareness
    • Good communication skills
    • OSHA 10
    • 3 years working as a rigger

    Physical Requirements

    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random testing during course of employment.
    • Possess the coordination, physical strength, and agility to complete required tasks within the allotted time frame.
    • Able to quickly and repeatedly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with body, arms and/or legs without restriction.
    • Acceptable visual acuity, either corrected or uncorrected.
    • Able to work at heights and in extreme temperatures and moderately inclement weather

    Qualifications

    • 3 years experience in welding
    • Familiarity with welding tools and procedures
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of layout

    • Miscellaneous Steel Design and Fabrication, Load testing (ie. Stairs, Ladders, Lifting fixtures, Spreader beams, Pusher Snow plows, buckets, blade fixtures)
    • Plate Weldment Fabrications/ in house bending & rolling capabilities
