Being a Risk Management Director coordinates and develops organization-wide programs for risk-free services. Acts as the liaison to attorneys, insurance companies, and individuals. Additionally, Risk Management Director investigates any incidences that may result in an asset loss. Extensive knowledge of legal issues related to organization liability and insurance trends. Promotes organization-wide understanding about risks and risk management strategies. Requires a bachelor's degree. May hold designations such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Typically reports to top management. The Risk Management Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Risk Management Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
