Alutiiq Commercial Enterprises has an exciting opportunity supporting the U.S. Airforce at Joint Base Langley – Eustis (JBLE) located in the Hampton/Newport News, VA area.

The General Maintenance Worker III - Roofer maintains and repairs physical structures of buildings by performing the following duties.

• Performs general maintenance and repair of Roofing and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as roofs, carpentry and masonry.
• Inspecting the structure of roofs in order to determine the best course of action. Perform roof inspection and assessment as required.
• Provide Supervisor with estimates on labor costs and materials required to fix or build a roof.
• Measuring and cutting materials to ensure that they fit securely around vents, gutters, chimneys, and walls.
• Cover roofs of structures with shingles, slate, asphalt, aluminum, wood, or related materials. May spray roofs, sidings, and walls with material to bind, seal, insulate, or soundproof sections of structures.
• Installing vapor barriers and insulation to create a more waterproof seal.
• Painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing roofing, concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks; replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles; and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be fluent in English. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• CLEARANCES, CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING, ETC.: Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. Facility clearance including official background checks is required.
• MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Ability to safely utilize, operate and maintain hand and power tools common to the trade.
